Samsung to unveil the new Galaxy Note in late August

Samsung is all ready to raise the curtains on its next generation smartphone-tablet hybrid device, the Galaxy Note 2. Samsung is expected to announce the device on August 29th around one year after it launched the first Galaxy Note.

A Samsung official spoke to Reuters and said, "We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29."
Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 2 a few days before the electronic expo, IFA that is held annually at Berlin.
No specifications of the device are confirmed, but it is rumoured that the device will be thinner and taller than its predecessor.
The Galaxy Note 2 is said to have a 5.5-inch display, as compared to 5.3-inch screen of the original Note. The Note 2 will run on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and sport a 13MP camera. The device is expected to be powered by a quad-core Exynos processor,
Samsung is timing the launch of its products very well to steal some thunder from Apple. The Galaxy Note 2 will be announced approximately two weeks before Apple is expected to unveil the next generation iPhone. Around the same time as the launch of the next iPhone, Samsung is expected to launch the 64GB variant of its Galaxy SIII smartphone.
The first generation Samsung Galaxy Note tired to bridge the gap between smartphones and tablets by acting as a hybrid. Before the Galaxy Note, the Dell Streak tried to act as a hybrid device but failed at its attempt.
The first generation Galaxy Note runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, upgradable to Android 4.0 ICS, and has an ARM Cortex A9 Dual Core 1.4GHz processor under the hood along with 1GB RAM. The device supports a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. In terms of storage, the device has 16GB internal expandable via microSD up to 32GB. It also has an 8MP rear camera with 1080p HD videos and runs on a 2500 mAh battery.
